Like filthy algae which cannot bear to see the glorious Sun

Like a mutated Orc in the presence of an unblemished Elf
So I am ashamed to hear my own voice

If I was a god of light and beauty
Had I been Balder the Beautiful
I might have dreamed to win your notice by my looks

If I had the voice of Chorus Angels
Could I mesmerize with a tune like the Sirens
I might endeavour to serenade you for your affection

Alas

You would never understand
An incredible pining to adore has been inflicted on me
Like death it inflicts all

Though I seek your blessed attention for comfort
In you I will never find the cure
Neither your concerned gaze nor your consoling voice

it's the title lah... here, i changed it. it doesn't sound so bad now does it?

the original title was 'to angela zhang', so i changed it to something else. but after some reflection, i think i should change it back to the first title, in case people take my poem too seriously... heheh

I re-read it... over... And I suppose the hidden meaning has something to do with unrequited affection? Pining? Pain? Someone on a pedestal? Romeo and Rosalind?
